Blame It All On My Roots...

I showed up in boots and ruined your black tie affair!

Well Garth Showed up in boots, but I don't think he ruined our black tie affair!

Saturday April 24th, TJ and I were so fortunate to be a part of our first BLACK TIE EVENT!!!! TJ's company buys a table at the Denver Health Gala (the fundraiser for the non-for-profit hospital) every year! Well, we were lucky enough to be invited this year! So that meant that we had to fit TJ for a Tux and find a formal gown for myself. This dress task came with quite a few challenges! First of all I feel sorry for Denver Ladies! We went to 10 stores hunting for a modest gown. We went to David's Bridal and asked, the lady was so happy because they just got one in the week before! MINI SKIRT!!! So if you want to have sleeves you must show skin somewhere else! Frustration was setting and we were at a loss. I called a friend from here, her friends shopped in UTAH!!! This is not helping! I go home, look up on the internet, and was fortunate to find ONE store over by guess where, the TEMPLE!!! Had this store not existed, TJ and I would have taken on a new business venture! Anyways, we found one!!!
Now on to the reason for the post...the GALA!!! It was AMAZING! We had the time of our lives! It was fun to get all dressed up and mingle with good friends for a great cause! I love the Denver Health Foundation! I have worked for them this year with their New Borns in Need program. That is another post, but we will just say that I Love this foundation! The evening was so much fun! We had amazing food and awesome entertainment! The MC's of the night were Denise Plante (local TV show host) and Reggie Rivers (former Pro Football player for the Broncos). A few of the VIP's were GARTH BROOKS!, Troy Aikman, John Elway, and Tricia Yearwood, just to name a few! Garth and Troy were opening up a "ZONE" part of The Child Life Zone Network at the hospital. (t4kzone.com is the website) This meant that our nights entertainment was none other than GARTH BROOKS! It was amazing! He put on a great show! Even the non Garth fans were enjoying themselves! He had Tricia Yearwood come up on stage and sing a few of her songs too! Our evening was amazing! We even scored two Nieman Marcus wine cork screws! What we do with those we don't know! Lily thinks the boxes are fun to open!
Sorry this is a long post, but I had to share! I could go on and on about the Denver Health Foundation, but I wont at this point and time! Enjoy a few pictures from our night!
All dressed up! I really liked my dress and the beading at the bottom! TJ looks pretty good in a Tux if I do say so!
Once again...the food was amazing! The salad I crave now! The steak, not pictured, melted in your mouth!!! and the dessert was so creamy and good! Then again, if people are paying what they are paying for this event, you hope the food is really good!

GARTH BROOKS! Live in person! We were so close!!!
The group from Milliman! Thanks for a great night! I would so go to another Black Tie Event! It was a night to remember! One day I hope to be able to donate in their charity auction!

Happy Anniversary to US!

If you look at the pictures on this post, you might no think this is about our Wedding Anniversary, but it is! We celebrated 3 years of marriage on April 6th! We had a great day. In the morning TJ asked if I could pick him up from work at 1:30!!!!! I thought we would go to dinner after work, but nothing before that so I was very excited! We picked up Dada and went to the Butterfly Pavilion. It was a good surprise! We had the best time. Lily was so fun to watch. I don't think we have ever heard her talk so much! After the Butterfly Pavilion we went to the park and then out to dinner. Yes Lily was lucky enough to get to spend this special day with us. We love our little family so much! We are so excited about life and eternity! Now here's to many more Anniversaries to come!Lily loved the bugs! She would run to the next one and say, "Bug! Bug! Bug!" She would have stayed in that one room for hours!
Dada and Lily holding the tarantula! Lily thought that was pretty cool and had she been 3 I am sure she would have held it by herself!
"Ish, Ish!" Lily loves her fish!
Petting a hard shell crab of some sort. She was so into this!
Feeling the Star - not a Star Fish because it is not a fish!
Then it was off to the butterflies! Lily was in heaven! She would run the paths looking at the butterflies.

This grin was what we saw all day long! I love this little girl! She was sure enjoying this turtle! She followed him for a while!

They release butterflies twice a day and when we watched it, one landed on TJ's arm. Lily thought that was cool and was really good about not touching it!
Looking at the one that landed on my coat.
Our big girl is sure growing fast! She wont sit in the little swings if there is a big girl swing available!
We had a great day!

We Are MOVING!

It has only been a year in coming! Short version of our story is that last year we started looking at houses but we had a not so great Realtor and some unfinished business in our current location. We found the most amazing Realtor and our business is finished and so we are now moving. It only took two Saturday's to find our house! We found it not quite a month ago and so this whole process has gone so quickly! It goes to show that when you do things in the Lord's timing they work out! When the Lord isn't done with you in a specific place, you will stay there as long as you are needed. Now we are on our way to new adventures! We couldn't be more excited! We took possession of our home April 16th! The past owners took such good care of the house! When we did our walk through, our Realtor and Mortgage Banker both came with us and they were both shocked at how the house looked! The sellers were there cleaning the house and it did look great! We are really excited about the yard! We will be planting at least tomatoes this year and are excited about a garden in years to come! Lily already loves the house! She plays on the stairs and runs around the whole house with the biggest smile! Well here are a few pictures. We went over last night so there aren't very many because we need lamps before every room has light. More to come!

Dada, Mama, Lily and HAT!

Who is Hat you ask? Well the latest addition to our family. We are a family of four! Dada, Mama, Lily and Hat! Lily has officially decided that we needed another member of our family. Each morning when we all wake up, Lily say good morning to Mama first. Then she says hi to Dada and immediately after Dada Lily says hi to Hat. Hat is Dada's hat. Every time she sees Dada he must be wearing Hat. We don't leave the house, not even for Church, without Hat! While TJ is at work, Lily will often ask if Dada has Hat. In pictures she wonders where Hat is. Hat is a very important member of our family! The other day Dada had on the wrong Hat and Lily made sure to trade it in of the correct one! She keeps things in order in our house. We sure do love our little girl and enjoy these precious moments that we will have to look back on!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone is enjoying Easter as much as we are.

We hunted for Easter baskets

colored eggs

and got to listen to a prophet of the Lord testify of the magnificence of the resurrection. I love General Conference.

I know that Jesus Christ lives, and that because of Him, we too will live again.

-TJ

I think Lily got this from . . .

my sister, Marci. Marci used to have a habit of falling asleep in all kinds of weird places. We have pictures of her asleep in a wagon full of stuffed animals, in her food, in a stack of tires, and underneath the Christmas tree, just to name a few. Well, you've already seen Lily falling asleep while eating lunch. Here's a new position she tried out yesterday. Looks comfortable.

Easter Dress!

Our little beauty! Since we have General Conference on Easter Sunday, we dressed up the Sunday before! Here is Lily in her beautiful purple dress! She looks so pretty and grown up! I can hardly believe that when we go back to Church she will be in Nursery! Don't get me wrong I will enjoy it, but it is sad to believe my baby is that old!

Easter Party!

We were invited to an Easter Party with some of the kids in the ward. Lily had a great time! She especially loved the egg game and the egg hunt. The egg game they played was to race with an egg on a spoon. Lily was not good at the race part, but she loved carrying the egg on the spoon. She was very good at finding the eggs during the hunt! It is so fun to watch her grow and become a big kid! She had a really good time! Thanks for the invite!Carrying the egg on the spoon! Such a pro!

Helping out a friend, or taking the egg, who knows!
"Look Mom! I found some eggs!"
Filling the basket! We had 12 eggs when we were done!

Enjoying the fruits of her labors!

Having a PB and Jelly after the hunt. It was such a fun day!

My First Hair Cut!

I know Lily doesn't have a lot of hair, but she still had her first hair cut! We evened out the back and the bangs and trimmed around the ears. This was to stop the mullet before it came in too much and to see if cutting would help her hair grow faster. We will see if she grows hair faster now! She had a great time as you can see! Anytime you get to eat a sucker while getting your hair cut is a good time! Our friend came down and cut it for me. She didn't want a before and after, so you just get during!
